ABC TranslationJAPAN

About us

ABC Translation handles certified translation, legalisation and interpreting internationally. The Japan branch exists because Japanese paperwork does not behave like paperwork anywhere else.

Why a separate Japan operation

Japanese civil records are held by the municipality of registered domicile rather than the one where you live, many offices still work by post and accept only domestic payment instruments, and the apostille route depends on whether a document counts as public or private. None of that is obvious from abroad, and it is where most self-managed applications fail.

Our work is to absorb that complexity: to know which office holds the record, which counter issues which certificate, and what the receiving authority on the other end will actually accept.

How we work

Documents are translated by linguists working into their native language who have handled that document type before, then checked by a second person against the original for names, dates and figures. Certification follows the format the receiving authority expects rather than a single house template.

We quote every job individually because a one-page residence certificate and a litigation bundle with embassy legalisation have almost nothing in common. The price we quote is the price you pay.

What we do not do

We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice, and we do not represent clients before authorities. Where a case needs a licensed professional, we say so early rather than at the end.

Tell us what you need

Prices depend on the document, the language pair and how fast you need it, so we quote each job individually. Send us the details and we will come back with a fixed price and a delivery date.
