Apostille and legalisation in Tokyo
Apostilles from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, plus embassy and consulate legalisation. Available throughout Tokyo without you leaving Shinjuku or anywhere else in the prefecture.
Japan is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a document issued by a Japanese public authority usually needs a single apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be valid abroad. Where the destination country is outside the convention, the document instead needs an authentication from the Ministry followed by legalisation at that country's embassy or consulate in Japan. We determine which route applies, prepare any notarisation required first, and run the document through each counter on your behalf.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs apostille counter in Kasumigaseki and almost every foreign embassy in Japan are located here, which makes same-week consular legalisation realistic.
We work with clients in Shinjuku, Shibuya, Minato, Chiyoda, Setagaya, Adachi, Edogawa, Toshima, Hachioji and Machida, and everywhere else in the prefecture.

How apostille and legalisation works from Tokyo
Apostilles are issued only by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For documents from Tokyo we normally use the Tokyo (Kasumigaseki) counter, and postal applications are accepted from anywhere in Japan. Where a document has to be notarised first, the notary's signature is certified by 東京法務局, the Legal Affairs Bureau with jurisdiction over Tokyo.
You send scans for the quote, post or courier the originals if they are needed, and we return everything together once the last stamp is on the file.
